A story about happiness and solace, trials and tribulations, it’s about four very close friends from college days, who hail from different social backgrounds and possess different psychological temperaments. They are Kamala Kar Rao, Gautham, Maarthaanda and Singaara Muni. Kamala Kar from a conservative family background was always an academically bright student who would become a Post Graduate. A girl from a resourceful business family, extremely goal-oriented, would finally win over him with her strong conviction of family and societal values. Gautham, having been attracted to spirituality would hop from one place to another seeking Spiritual Gurus while intermittently taking care of his agricultural lands. He would ultimately get attracted to a girl from a humble and pious family, thus marrying her. Maarthaanda would, though well-read, becomes a drug peddler and gets jailed in a foreign country, and ultimately gets killed by gunfire while trying to flee. Singaara Muni would become a psychopath and kills his mother for having ditched himself and his Father. He ultimately becomes mentally deranged, and due to his mindless violent deeds gets killed by the security guards of a mental hospital. Both the ladies in the novel are women of great substance with an emotional and honest feel. In short, this novel takes its readers through the temples of the heart where bells chime, winds blow and lamps die.
