More than Just Papad

More Than Just Papad is a light-hearted yet insightful cross-cultural love story between a Sindhi girl Mona and a TamBrahm Iyer boy Srikkanth. Their emotions for each other take shape in the eerie backdrop of pouring rains in Mumbai.

Both of them however encounter knotty issues in their respective homes as their parents oppose their decision to tie the knot with a person from another
community. Amidst the pain and eventual ecstasy that unfolds in the couple’s lives, More Than Just Papad brings alive the fascinating cultural attributes of the two communities. Papad as a cultural stereotype acts as a metaphor for the various stages of Mona’s and Sri’s journey from love birds to becoming man and wife.

The book not only constructs an intriguing plot, but also celebrates, in its own unique way, the contribution of Sindhis and TamBrahm Iyers to the daily life of India.
